Nominators won too!
The Simpur Bloggies was created to celebrate the hard work & dedication that our local bloggers have put into creating and producing great blogs for the public to enjoy, but we also think blog readers play a huge part in making these blogs popular too.. That's why we didn't only give away great prizes to the best blogs, but we also gave nominators a chance to win some great prizes too!
Every month from September 2007 to March 2008, we've accepted nominations from the public for 6 different blog categories, and the nominations have been no short of well-written.
All they had to do was send in their nomination entries, which were their favourite blog choices, including a reason for why they chose their favourites.
The best nominator's reason for their blog of choice, as chosen by Simpur, won cool prizes including a night's stay in a Junior Suite, including breakfast for 2 at The Orchid Garden Hotel, courtesy of DST Group's Loyalty Programme, and dinner vouchers at the Orchid Garden Hotel restaurants, sponsored by the hotel!
The winners also got Simpur & DST Group goodies and merchandise!

"I believe Ranoadidas.com deserves the spot for the
Wild Card category, not only because of the number of daily readers that he
gets but also because, as a freelance blogger/journalist, Rano has great
dedication in writing about local news and news about Bruneian abroad, be it
activities of Bruneian students at home and away. He is also like our local
Peter Parker (without the Spiderman suit of course), always highlighting
interesting local personalities, talent and community issues at large.

Reeda Malik of AnakBrunei.org, won a Dinner for 2 at The Orchid Garden Hotel courtesy of the hotel and Simpur, an Easi Starter Pack from DSTCom, and even DST Group and Simpur merchandise..
"Mr BR is at the top of my list because of the impact he has made on the local blogging scene over the past couple of years. It still remains one of the most widely read blogs in Brunei.
The amount of information in his blog is mind-boggling and shows a meticulousness and willingness to share (despite his hectic daily schedule as a senior civil servant) which I have only seen in few.
After having gone AWOL for awhile and then returning as a weekly blog, Mr BR is now back as a daily blog. I do look forward to his daily writings as part of my morning breakfast routine.
I wish more senior civil servants, and even those at the very top of government will take-up blogging as a way to allow their constituents to know who the real person behind the senior government official is."

"As the Rollerblading scene is long gone in Brunei, somehow Eyan and his friends have helped the sport make a huge comeback. Their Surkrew blog site has successfully market this comeback, especially by making full use of the popularity of the competition"

"Anakbrunei, a blogger who develops a passion for photography and
actually excels in the field, is fast becoming an icon for Brunei
blogs for his ability to promote Brunei globally as many who have
lived in Brunei at one time, were able to appreciate and follow
Brunei's development through his blog. Apart from his great
photography, Anak Brunei has been contributing to the Bruneian society
through his 2007 calendar drive for SMARTER which should be credited
to his relentless efforts to support local self-help organisations.
Anakbrunei also contributes to other blogs such as the Kurapak
Teknology, Visit Brunei, Brunei Restaurant Review. His ability to work
with the Brunei local tourist industry must therefore be recognised."

"I nominate World of Pablo for the writer's posts about his family life and
perception of life. The warmth and love he portrays when he writes about
his family is obvious and I appreciate the way he encourages his readers
to further bond and strengthen ties with their children and families. His
post about his departed young son touched me a lot, but I think will help
others who has been in the same sad situation."
